The Zajdeno party announced that the "illegal demolition" of the German pavilion, one of the preserved structures of Belgrade's Second World War camp for Jews, Roma and Serbs, "Staro Sajmište," has begun and demanded that the authorities stop work immediately.
He reminded that the Old Fair Memorial Complex is the most important place to remember our people and other peoples who died there during the Second World War and called on all competent authorities to include the Old Sava Bridge as an important element of the history of the liberation of Belgrade in within the complex.
Zajdeno stated that "the demolition is carried out without identification of the contractor and a board with information about the construction site" and that the workers were informed that it was being done by order of the Directorate for Building Land and Construction in Belgrade and demanded the resignation of the director of the City Office for the Protection of the city monuments, Olivera Vuckovic.
He believes that the building of the German pavilion, as well as the rest of the camp near the Fair, must be placed under the protection of the Office for the Protection of Monuments of the City of Belgrade.
He also stated that "the Jewish community in Serbia has officially requested this from the Institute", but, as he said, the Belgrade Institute for the Protection of Monuments has been silent so far.
