Irmgard F. (97) was convicted of a mass crime that took place from 1943 to 1945 in the Stutthof concentration camp near Gdańsk. She was employed as a civil servant in the command of the camp. During her work, over ten thousand people were killed or died in horrible conditions there. Because she was a teenager at the time of the crime, Furner was given a two-year suspended prison sentence under juvenile law. With that, the court accepted the request of the prosecution and the majority of the lawyers of the survivors of the camp. The defense requested an acquittal. "The accused, who is 98 years old, was convicted by the court of assisting in thousands of murder cases. The criminal law could not do more than this," said lawyer Hans-Jürgen Ferster, who represented four surviving camp victims.
