In times of health crisis as we live in, protective masks have become a way of life. Whether it is a disposable mask or a canvas, every person on the planet must currently have at least one with them every time they leave home.
If you have decided to use one of the canvas masks you must also know how to wash them properly so that they are safe to use again and again. Here's how to clean them after each use according to expert advice.
Masks should be washed regularly. It is important to always take them out properly and wash your hands after touching a used mask. Schi Tech Daily provides mask cleaning instructions issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In the washing machine: you can wash the mask together with other clothes. When washing, use regular laundry detergent, at the highest possible water temperature corresponding to the material to be washed.
Hand wash: make sure the bleach you have on hand is completely disinfectant. Some bleach products, such as those designed for the safe use of colored clothing, may not be suitable for disinfection.
Use of bleach
Use a bleach that contains between 5.25 and 8.25 percent sodium hypochlorite. Do not use bleach if the percentage is not in that range or is not specified. Check that the bleaching product has a good shelf life.
Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleaning agent. Provide adequate ventilation of the room.
How to dry the mask?
Dryer: use the highest temperature and allow the masks to dry completely.
In dry air: place them and leave to dry completely. If possible, allow the masks to dry in direct sunlight.
