Mother Teresa learned the love for the different from Skopje

Mother Teresa was born Gonza Agnesa in Skopje in 1910, at a time when the city was under the Ottoman Empire, in an Albanian-Roman Catholic family as the third child of the Bojadziu family, alongside Sister Aga (1904) and Brother Lazar (1907). It is believed that Father and Nikola were members of the Vlach community.

According to Gonxhe's brother, Lazar, the Bojaxhiu family came from Prizren, and their mother and father were born in Skopje.

It was characteristic of her family that there were many mixed marriages.

At that time, Skopje was a developed trade center, multicultural and multi-religious environment. She has learned to communicate with everyone, from those who are different in language, culture, religion, and worldview. That's why she has a lot of photos in Roma costumes, because she had direct contacts with her Roma surroundings and Roma families who especially loved them.
