In any scenario that predicts a third world war, there are prominent neutral countries that could be spared. These nations are also characterized by geographical distance, and their rich resources make them ideal destinations for avoiding global conflicts.
The atmosphere on the planet has never been more tense, even among countries where there is no drama. So the Scandinavians are given a list of groceries in case of war, and the Times of India published a list of countries where we should move if we want to avoid a third world war… It is not surprising that they are quite remote and inaccessible.
Antarctica
Although not a country, Antarctica has secured a place on all such lists due to its extreme isolation.
Known for its breathtaking landscapes and icy terrain, it is not a place that many would call home, but…
Fiji
Fiji is an isolated island nation in the vast Pacific Ocean with a peaceful foreign policy.
The population lives modestly, and its lush forests, mineral springs, and rich fishing grounds make Fiji an attractive haven in times of global uncertainty.
Iceland
Iceland consistently tops the Global Peace Index. With abundant freshwater, renewable energy, and marine resources, Iceland is self-sufficient, meaning it doesn’t have to rely on other countries for basic necessities. It’s also home to the world’s loneliest house, rumored to be a doomsday shelter.
Greenland
While Denmark, as part of the European Union and NATO, could be at risk in the event of war in Europe, Greenland, an autonomous constituent country, remains strategically remote and politically unconnected. Its remote, mountainous terrain makes it a convenient place to escape the rest of the world.
New Zealand
New Zealand, with its stable democracy and history of no military conflict, is another hidden and developed nation. With fertile soil, clean water, and the ability to produce its own food, New Zealand's mountainous terrain offers natural refuges from potential invasion.
Bhutan
Surrounded by the Himalayas, Bhutan provides an excellent refuge, hidden from potential threats. With its commitment to external independence and careful avoidance of diplomatic entanglements, Bhutan is certainly not a logical target for invasion.
Ireland
Despite its proximity to potential conflict in England, Ireland maintains a completely independent foreign policy and refrains from NATO membership. It is militarily neutral, so any conflict could bypass it.
Switzerland
Switzerland, known for its political neutrality, has a mountainous landlocked terrain and numerous nuclear fallout shelters. Even if nuclear bombs were to land there, the Swiss population is well protected by bunkers and surrounded by mountains, creating a defense against neighboring countries. Switzerland is keen to attract new residents – it pays people to move, but with certain conditions.
Indonesia
Indonesia’s inclusion on this list stems from its traditionally neutral stance on global political issues, embodied in a “free and active” foreign policy. The country focuses on independent action in international affairs and is dedicated to fostering global peace.
Tuvalu
Within the vast expanses of the Pacific Ocean, Tuvalu is an exceptionally secluded and politically unaffiliated nation. Its small population and negligible resources give it little incentive for major powers involved in a world war to target Tuvalu. Uniquely self-sufficient, it produces its own food and supplies, ensuring its independence and likely isolation in a war scenario.
