The effort of the gypsy organizations to make proposals to save the street vending bears its first fruits. Next, we make a brief chronological account of it.
On April 27, 2020, different gypsy and pro-gypsy organizations, which are some of the most representative in the whole of the Spanish State, prepared a position document in the face of the serious crisis in which street vending is immersed in Spain. The will of these organizations with this document was to establish a line of dialogue with the autonomous governments, as well as the state government, to address both emergency measures and the more structural measures that have a medium and long-term time horizon.
We leave a link to the full document of these conversations, where all the gypsy and pro-gypsy organizations that have prepared it and others that have adhered to it appear.
Subsequently, on May 6, an online meeting was held between the parliamentary group in the Congress of Citizen Deputies and the Khetane Platform, since following the publication of the statement of proposals to save the street vendor listed above, He showed his interest in meeting with our Platform for the representative role of the whole of the gypsy associative movement that we play. In this meeting, various aspects related to the serious crisis suffered by street vendors in our country were discussed and served to exchange opinions on the situation of the Gypsy People in this crisis of COVID-19.
The Khetane Platform was represented by a delegation made up of: Antonio Vázquez Saavedra (FAGEX), Jose Carmona Carmona (E Rroma Va Socio-Cultural Federation), as well as its director Iñaki Vázquez Arencón. The Citizens delegation was made up of our cousin Sara Giménez and María Muñoz, both deputies in Congress and Ramón Mateo, a technician from the same parliamentary group.
