On December 19, 2022, the Roma Center/Roma Anti-Discrimination Network hosted a digital presentation and discussion with Spanish Roma activist, author and lecturer Vicente Rodríguez on the Nazi mentality and the struggle for German identity after World War II. Discussed Roma perspectives and compared the cultural universe of both Roma and the modern state of Germany. We will explore the contrast between state and stateless cosmovisions and the underlying culture of majority and minority populations. After Vicente's presentation, the participants joined him in the discussion. The presentation aimed to answer several questions, including: How did the perpetrators of the Holocaust see themselves and what was their idea of society and morality? And why are the Roma still a stateless culture and resisting assimilation into social megastructures?
Vicente Rodríguez comes from the Calais community, lives in Germany and has been an internationally active Roma activist since his youth.
