After a short term sickness at the age 77. Suddenly and after a short illness at the age of 77 in Vranje, the Republic of Serbia, on February 13 this year, the prominent Roma intellectual and professor Ibrahim Osmani has passed away.
He is distinguished for his commitment to the preservation of Roma culture, tradition, history and contribution to the preservation of the Roma language and its standardization. He spent his whole life and work on those spears. He was born on December 30, 1944. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology "Blaze Koneski" in Skopje, Department of Serbo-Croatian Language and Yugoslav Literature. He was a teacher of Serbo-Croatian language in several schools in Vranje, Serbia, where he retired and lived. With his death, the Roma people lost a well-known and a prominent member of the community, but his works will remain as a document and a direction of action for future generations of young and progressive Roma.
