Of the total number of social welfare beneficiaries in Serbia, from 2016 to 2018 there were 268,000, 50% of whom were able-bodied.
This was announced by representatives of the SAI at the presentation of the audit on material support as a measure to reduce poverty.
As the audit shows, the existing system fails to achieve its objectives, and due to the ineffective cooperation of the competent authorities, it misses the opportunity for labor-able social welfare beneficiaries to exit the social protection system.
In the period from 2016 to 2018, only four out of 140 centers for social work were published.
