After an adequately approved name, it is said, one of the oldest Roma settlements in Nis - Stocni Trg will receive a new name. So far no new name has been chosen, and therefore citizens are being urged to make their own proposals.
A few days ago, an initiative was launched through the social networks for the citizens to propose a name for the current name of this settlement - Stocni Trg. Some of the suggestions were - the great of Roma music - Shaban Bajramovic, the famous bohemian Avdo Zekic and others.
According to the initiators, there is no adequate solution yet, but city councilors are confident that the name of this part of Nis will be changed as soon as the proposals are submitted.
Soon, Roma NGOs will have a meeting to put forward their own name change proposals, which they will then submit to the Commission for Renaming the Streets.
Otherwise the current name “Stocni Trg" got it according to the place where in the past a hundred years ago goods were sold here.
