The legendary Yugoslav musician Goran Bregović performed in Istanbul at the traditional "Roma meeting 2023 - Together we write centuries of Roma".
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also attended the program held at the Halik Congress Center. The popular Bregović participated in the performance of the composition "Century of Turkey" performed by the famous Turkish composer Yugel Arzen (Yuchel) and his orchestra. At the end of the program attended by a large number of citizens, Turkish President Erdoğan presented Bregović with a plaque.
In his speech, Erdoğan said: "Whether he is Roma, made of stone or clay, he is a servant of Allah, whoever he is. I hope that those who cannot pull it will explode and burst." Greeting the audience with the words "Roma, my brothers", Erdoğan said that he did not call them "my brothers" just as a word and that the Roma themselves are in his veins. because they spent their childhood together with the Roma, grew up together on the same streets, shared the same bread, shared the same joys and shared the same sorrows. He emphasized that they are brothers and sisters.
"Some people just call your name politically. Some greet you just to show off. Some people knock on your door just to ask for votes, but we have a friendship with you from the past, which we hope will last until our last breath. Erdogan said.
