The Pehchevo village of Crnik is the only village in Eastern Macedonia where Turks, Macedonians and Roma without any prejudices and this year jointly celebrate and respect the holidays regardless of religious affiliation. According to Usain Kampelezov, a resident of the village, celebrating the holidays together is a tradition that has existed in the village for many years.
- Holidays are what unite us, we all celebrate together. Ramadan Bajram and Easter is a time when both Macedonians and Roma and Turks are together. They come to us, for their holidays we go to them. We celebrate Easter and Eid together, and not only that, every single celebration is common to us, says Kampelezov.
In the village at the moment, as he adds, due to the curfew, it is calm and for the first time, the celebration of Ramadan Bajram will be in the family circle.
-Although we live in a time when there is a restriction in the movement and this year those who are house to house go to visit and respect the holiday. However, we must admit that due to the coronavirus this year, the usual celebration will be absent, adds Kampelezov.
He invites the villagers to a piece of baklava without which the celebration of Ramadan Bajram is unthinkable. He wished all the residents of the Muslim black church a happy holiday with the usual greeting Mubarak Olsun.
