Roma integration in Lithuania

For the 2014-2020 period, Lithuania will be allocated a total of €6.8 billion in EU funds, out of which €4.7 billion will come from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Of this amount, at least 24.2% will be spent on the ESF, with at least 20% of that going towards the promotion of social inclusion and combating poverty. The latter amount could also finance Roma-related measures.

The Council of Europe estimates that there are approximately 3,000 Roma livingin Lithuania (0.08% of the population).

Lithuania’s strategy also aims at increasing public tolerance through intercultural dialogue.
Lithuania’s ational Roma integration strategy (action plan) is aimed at promoting the participation of the Roma in public life, reducing social exclusion, enhancing self-awareness in the Roma community as well as increasing tolerance towards the Roma.
