For the 2014-2020 period, Germany will be allocated a total of €17.1 billion in European Social Fund (ESF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funds.
Of this amount, at least 36.8% will be spent on the ESF, with at least 20% of that going towards the promotion of social inclusion and combating poverty.
The Council of Europe estimates that there are approximately 105,000 Roma living in Germany (0.13% of the population).
Germany promotes the integration of the Roma at the Länder and local level, as well as at the federal level.
Germany’s national Roma integration strategy is not a strategy as such, but rather an integrated set of policy measures within Germany’s social inclusion policies. In defining policies, Germany is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all disadvantaged groups, including Roma.
