In his usual way, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico scapegoat the Roma citizens, branding them hard to employ. This is just a statement of political primitivism used to hide the absence of political responsibility.
But the Roma MPs in the Slovak National Assembly responded swiftly showing we don’t tolerate this. MP Irena Biháriová criticized Fico for attacking the most vulnerable to save his reputation and highlighted the irony of his colleagues being paid despite their absence from the Parliament.
MP Ingrid Kosová called Fico's comments a demonstration of institutional racism.
MP Peter Pollák countered Fico's claim about the work ethic of the Roma, stating that Roma people are motivated to work and seek opportunity, not handouts, and stressed the need to address discrimination by employers.
