How long will the right to health for Roma women exist only on paper?

And this 8th of April, we, women from the Women's Initiative from Shuto Orizari, marked the International Day of the Roma, alarming about the obstacles that the Romani women in our country are facing today. The obstacles we can not rely on, but over the years it has become clear that the largest among them are unemployment and lack of access to reproductive health services.

Illegal collection and ineffective measures of the Program for active protection of mothers and children significantly burden everyday life, especially among the Roma women, and confirm that in Macedonia the right to health of women in reproductive age is not guaranteed in Macedonia.

The last Community Evaluation Map, a survey conducted by Shuto Orizari Women's Initiative for the seventh time in the territory of Suto Orizari, indicated that all 100 respondents were unemployed and that even 82% of those in reproductive age paid for an ECHO review in their own gynecologist, although this service is provided free of charge.

Despite the range of measures foreseen in the Program for the Active Protection of Mothers and Children for 2018, which should have facilitated access to health services for marginalized and vulnerable, the survey shows that:

40% of women without health insurance paid for laboratory analyzes during pregnancy and childbirth, although these services are free of charge,
only 16% used the right to free folic acid,
only 11% of pregnant women were visited by patronage nurses during pregnancy,
as many as 12% of pregnant women are minors.

Therefore, it is required from the Ministry of Health and the Health Insurance Fund to finally solve the long-standing problem of unlawful collection of free health services for gynecologists and to improve the implementation of measures from preventive programs for women in reproductive age.

It is appealing to the state and to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to give priority to all socially vulnerable categories of citizens in the "tailoring" of employment measures, especially to Roma who belong to the most marginalized group of citizens in the country.

Otherwise, why would I congratulate the International Roma Day?

What are the roots of the problem of begging in Macedonia?

It is assumed that there are about 2,000 children in Macedonia on the street.
The struggle for naked existence many children in Macedonia carry on the street. Sami, or with their parents, beg to come to a piece of bread.

According to psychologists, it is mostly children who are out of the educational process and come from families of Roma nationality, who from small ones are getting used to this way of life.

A factor that greatly influences this phenomenon is the low level of education of parents. Therefore, measures are needed for their education and employment.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Centers for Social Work provide expert, advisory and teamwork for street children and their parents and providing the right to social protection, and they conduct field activities twice a week.

Through the project "Inclusion of Roma children in public pre-schools", it is possible to improve and support the integration of these children before starting their primary education. Only this school year, there are 514 children.

Children on the street also visit special centers where they are provided with an educational component, preparing them for inclusion in the regular educational process.

The Life of Roma in BiH: Rejected and "Different"

Despite some positive actions in protecting the rights of Roma in BiH that have been made in recent years, there are still many cases of discrimination where this community faces on a daily basis.

Roma are the most numerous of all 17 national minorities living in BiH. According to the 1991 census in BiH, only about 8,000 of them reported being Roma.
But field reports say their number is significantly higher. According to the OSCE Special Rapporteur on the situation of Roma in BiH since 2013, there are over 50,000 Roma on the territory of BiH.

According to some other available information, the figure of about 70,000 is most often mentioned, but all this information is not taken into consideration and it is not relevant that the final report from the last census in BiH is provided.

However, it is known that Roma are the most endangered national minority where they often encounter prejudice, discrimination, and Roma people perceive them as "different" as a group that does not belong to that society where they live, and there are more crimes committed against them only by hatred.

Daylight Time: The day is increasing, the clock goes ahead for an hour

At the last weekend in March 2019, the night at 2 pm between 29th and 30th of March begins the summer time calculation.

Clockwise the clock should be moved one hour ahead, that is, the time at 2 pm will be counted as if it is 3 o'clock.

By the end of March the day will increase and it will be dark at about 18 o'clock, and by moving the arrows, we will have a day till 7 pm, and at the beginning of summer and until 20 o'clock.

The transition from winter to summer and vice versa began for the first time in 1916 in the countries of the north of Europe, and today it is a practice in 70 countries of the world.
European countries have already brought a final abolition of this practice.
