On January 27, 78 years ago, the Red Army liberated the German concentration camp on the territory of then Nazi-occupied Poland, Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, located on the territory of the Auschwitz I and II camps in the city of Oswiecim, marked the anniversary under the honorary patronage of Polish President Andrzej Duda. Not a single official representative of Russia was invited to it, and the reason for the decision was the war in Ukraine led by Russia, reported AFP yesterday.

So far, Russia has always participated in the ceremonies held every year on January 27, and its representative has given a speech.

After the liberation, the Red Army found about 7,000 prisoners alive. All survivors to date are invited to the commemorative event, each with a companion.

Preparations for the operation of the restaurant are underway, the equipment is currently being assembled and the menu is being prepared, and as announced, stuffed lamb, romaine stew with herbs and a special pilaf will be the most prominent dishes.

In February, the opening of the first restaurant with Roma cuisine in the center of Thessaloniki is planned. The restaurant "Amalin" is the culmination of long-term efforts of the Dendropotamos Romani Women's Association to integrate women belonging to vulnerable population groups in society.

This will be the first non-profit Roma restaurant in the second largest city in Greece, and it will be cooked and served by women from the Dendropotamos neighborhood.

"It was our lifelong dream. The association has been fighting for the inclusion and promotion of good practices for 20 years. What could be better than highlighting the traditional Roma cuisine", said the president of the Dendropotamosa Roma Association, Gianula Maga.

As he pointed out, Roma cuisine is special and worth trying, and this important community project will also be supported.

"It is the best way to show society that we are part of it. That we are not invisible. Roma women will work in the restaurant. When I say socially vulnerable, we are also talking about ex-prisoners. We will give them support to find their way", she stressed.
