The first trial regarding the case of police brutality in Bitola which gained huge media coverage and was scheduled for the 9th of February at 10:00 in the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje at Courthouse number 6 has been cancelled.
However the court procedure starts after the published video clip of the Civil Organization – Avaja regarding the police brutality upon members of the Roma community. This video spread like wildfire on social media and news outlets, the video contains evidence of police brutality. Avaja, together with the Association Young Jurists and the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights as well as many other Roma NGOs and Associations have harshly condemned this act and offer free legal support to the individuals who were harmed during this incident.
