All the details of the new law: If you want to move to Germany, you need to know this

The Law on the Migration of Experts Concerning Qualified Workers from Countries Outside the EU came into force.

Now, in more detail, we will try to explain to you what exactly the Immigration Act is in one of Europe's most powerful economies.

Under the new law, experts are no longer regarded only as highly qualified people, but also as qualified persons whose vocational education lasts at least two years and is equivalent to German education, and their diplomas must be recognized in Germany.

The goal is for the diploma recognition to be completed within three months of the submission of all necessary documents, and the visa issuance process for experts should last up to four to six weeks in the future.

The law applies to any expert from outside the EU who can prove that he has a contract of employment in Germany and relevant professional qualifications.

Ancillary work that does not require vocational qualifications is not covered, but workers with a basic professional qualification and a contract of employment or job offer in Germany must be qualified.

Anyone who has a work contract or a specific job offer will be granted a residence permit for four years or as long as the employment contract lasts.

After a four-year stay, the experts can permanently settle in Germany, ie acquire the right to unlimited stay.

Anyone who wants to look for a job in Germany will be granted a six-month visa, a prerequisite to have money to cover their living expenses during that period and to speak German at B2 level.

The new law also applies to foreigners who want to study or train in Germany, but must be under 25 years of age.

Those who work in Germany two years after graduation are entitled to permanent residence.

The special regulation applies to experts over 45 years of age who, if they wish to come to Germany, must have a salary of at least EUR 3 685 gross or proof that they have paid an appropriate pension.

Those who come with family to Germany must provide proof that they can support it and have a large enough apartment, which means around 950 euros per person and 10-12 square meters per person.

Spouses and children over 16 years of age must have basic knowledge of German, A1 level and newcomers are not entitled to social assistance.

Although the new law came into force on 1 March, the old law on Western Balkan countries is valid by the end of the year.

According to that law, coming to Germany did not require a degree, nor a passed language proficiency test, and unskilled workers could come.
