Former Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is accused of racism over comments endangering the Roma population, Slovak police say
Investigators allege that Fico publicly agreed with the statement against the Roma by a far-right MP.
MP Milan Mazurek, who is a member of the Noda Party "Our Slovakia" in 2016, said that "Roma have never done anything for the nation"
Mazurek was convicted of racism this year and was the first Slovak lawmaker to lose a parliamentary mandate following a criminal conviction.
Fico later commented that almost the entire nation would agree with Mazurek's words.
Police have said that if Fico is convicted and found guilty he could be sentenced to five years in prison, media reports said.
