On the International Day Against Corruption, December 9, we find that corruption and decision-making in conflicts of interest are phenomena that remain largely unpunished, and that citizens' perception is that the fight against corruption does not produce satisfactory results.
Moreover, the Republic of Northern Macedonia has consistently fallen significantly on the rankings of the Corruption Perceptions Index - a serious crime that undermines social and economic development.
The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights is involved in the fight against corruption by monitoring the trials of organized crime and corruption cases; providing appropriate legal assistance to victims of corruption; advocating for greater accountability and transparency of all institutions; seeking to prevent and put an end to impunity and to provide criminal responsibility for all those who through their corrupt practices endanger individual freedoms and rights and affect the violation of the rule of law system in the State.
